Chung Jung One (Daesang) was established in 1956 in South Korea. At that time, fermented products such as Gochujang (fermented chili paste) and Doenjang (fermented soybean paste) were still produced in the traditional way in earthenware pots. The fermentation gives the products an umami flavor. Umami is called the fifth taste alongside sweetness, sourness, bitterness, and saltiness. It's also very healthy!
